What typically carries over

The motor nameplate, driven-load description, speed range, control source, acceleration and stopping behavior, braking design, and fault philosophy remain the core inputs. An Altivar or SoMove parameter report and terminal drawing can preserve commissioning intent. These records support comparison, but their parameter identifiers and terminal conventions are not copied directly into a different drive family.

What needs re-engineering

Re-engineering covers motor setup, control mode, digital and analog terminal assignments, scaling, limits, braking hardware, restart behavior, and fault outputs. Schneider network control or option modules must be mapped to a supported protocol such as Modbus or CANopen, with PLC words and diagnostics rebuilt. Mechanical fit, cooling, EMC, protective devices, and any safety-related stop function require separate checks. The complete sequence should be observed during normal running, controlled stops, fault reset, and communications loss. The approved parameter set, terminal schedule, network map, and fault-response test record should be archived with the revised electrical documentation.
