The Magelis screen inventory, operator language, navigation, alarm list, recipes, security model, and tag naming can be retained as a content and behavior brief. Existing HMI project files and cutout drawings help document the installed system. They do not remove the need to rebuild screen objects, scripts, drivers, and data services in the target HMI environment.

What needs re-engineering

Re-engineering covers recreating screens and navigation, remapping PLC variables, validating alarms and recipes, and reviewing trends, logs, users, and file handling. A Modbus connection may preserve the protocol family, but addresses, data types, byte order, polling, and fault behavior still need confirmation. Other Schneider-specific links require an appropriate target driver or network redesign. Mounting, power, port location, storage, and environmental limits are checked against the selected panel. Operators should verify acknowledgement, recipe transfer, user access, and communications-loss behavior before release. The approved tag map, byte-order decisions, and communications test record should be archived with the interface project for future service.
