What typically carries over

Motor nameplate data, driven-load behavior, speed range, command sources, acceleration and stopping intent, braking arrangement, and fault handling remain the starting point for a drive review. Existing Omron parameter and wiring records can show how the machine was commissioned. They do not establish equivalent settings on another drive because parameter definitions, defaults, and terminal functions vary by platform.

What needs re-engineering

Re-engineering covers motor setup, control mode, analog and digital I/O, current and speed limits, braking components, restart policy, and diagnostic behavior. EtherNet/IP or other Omron network control must be remapped to a supported target protocol such as Modbus or CANopen, including PLC control words and fault states. Mechanical mounting, cooling, EMC, upstream protection, and the safety stop circuit are assessed again. The retained controller sequence should be tested across normal running, stopping, fault reset, and loss of communications. Approved settings should be archived with the revised electrical documentation. The reviewed terminal map should remain available for maintenance and fault diagnosis.
