What needs re-engineering

Re-engineering starts with selecting the motor, drive, encoder, brake, cables, and mechanical interface as a matched axis. Motion commands, homing, limits, gearing, cams, and diagnostics are rebuilt in CoDeSys or the target motion environment. PROFINET-based coordination may move to EtherCAT or CANopen only after the complete topology and update behavior are reviewed. Tuning and stopping behavior must be validated on the actual mechanism, while safety functions and certification evidence are assessed separately. Acceptance criteria should cover normal cycles, recovery states, and loss-of-feedback behavior before release. The accepted axis configuration should remain with the mechanical and electrical records for later service. Any proposed servo system is a candidate replacement — subject to engineering review.
