The existing motor data, machine duty, speed command, direction logic, acceleration and stopping behavior, braking arrangement, and fault sequence remain valid engineering inputs. Mitsubishi drive parameter exports and wiring diagrams can document the intended setup, especially where external terminals or PLC control are involved. They should be preserved for comparison, not loaded unchanged into a different drive family.

What needs re-engineering

Re-engineering covers the target drive's control mode, motor setup, parameter structure, terminal polarity and function, analog scaling, current limits, braking hardware, and restart behavior. CC-Link control or Mitsubishi-specific option-board data must be remapped to a supported target interface such as Modbus or CANopen, including control words and diagnostic states. Cabinet fit, thermal conditions, EMC, protective devices, and safety-chain wiring are reviewed again. Normal stopping, fault reset, and communications-loss behavior must be observed with the retained PLC sequence. Parameter backups should document the approved commissioning state for future service. The final terminal map should be retained with the revised electrical drawings. Any proposed VFD is a candidate replacement — subject to engineering review.
